BISA Dormitory COVID-19 Charter – To Keep Students and Staff Safe

Prior to reopening Dormitory.

We will:

Conduct all necessary cleaning of Dormitory, indoor environments, including communal areas, bedrooms, kitchens and
Decide on any regular testing procedures and advise students and parents accordingly. Support Covid-19 testing wherever
Evaluate and adapt any medical procedures to ensure compliance with the recommendations of public health
Ensure that staff do not work (or have contact with students) if they have symptoms, have tested positive or have been in contact (within the last 14 days) with anyone who has
Provide a suitable isolation rooms to care for students who show symptoms and/or test
Train staff in the safe management of boarding houses under new guidance and Dormitory procedures and in Covid- 19 nursing for appropriate staff
Advise parents and students of the Dormitory’s policies on activities, trips, and the provision of boarding during weekends. We advise students to limit the trips back to Saudi Arabia due to the testing requirements. Those students needing to go home will be fully assisted to make the journey’s safe and comfortable. This will be reviewed on a regular basis according to the current Covid 19 situation.

Before departure from home

Contact each student and their family, through their parents if appropriate, to explain arrangements and answer any questions
Provide written information on arrival procedures, including restrictions on parents entering the
Provide a confirmation letter for each students confirming that they are a student at Bahrain School and BISA Dormitory to assist travel though the King Fahad Causeway.
For students arriving through the airport, confirm the arrangements for collecting the student from the airport, transport to Dormitory and how any required quarantine procedures will be undertaken. Other arrangements as agreed with Dormitory staff, parents, or students are acceptable, as long as they comply with the relevant immigration guidance.
All students must have a smart phone and have downloaded the Bahrain BeAware Application.
Students exiting Saudi Arabia must have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of travel. The student must have the appropriate letter/document to present to the Bahrain Official at the causeway. Alternatively, students can be tested at the Causeway and placed in quarantine at the dormitory according the Bahrain regulations and the test result if confirmed.

For students upon arrival in the country

Ensure the student is met by a member of the Dorminy staff, who is aware of, and follows, appropriate social distancing guidance
Ensure that the named person wears a face covering at all times when in proximity to the student in enclosed areas, especially in vehicles unless screens are provided
Ensure that the journey to Dormitory is direct, that the vehicle contains sanitizer and suitable wipes.

For all students upon arrival at Dormitory

Ensure all changes to routines and all new safety arrangements, which have been previously notified in writing, are fully explained to students, with full induction for any students new to the Dormitory
Encourage the student to contact home shortly after arrival and keep in regular contact with parents.
Explain the new fire evacuation procedures and conduct a drill soon after arrival
Ensure the student has an opportunity to discuss their fears, worries and concerns with a trusted


At the Dormitory

Require appropriate social distancing in all areas of Dormitory
Guarantee availability of soap and disposable paper towels in all washing areas
Require regular hand washing by students and staff
Provide hand sanitizer stations at key points in and around the Dormitory
Provide students and staff with the opportunity to raise any concerns
Ensure laundry procedures are clear and safe for staff and students
Ensure appropriate Personal protective equipment (PPE) for any staff performing roles which will require it
Implement enhanced daily cleaning procedures in the Dormitory and ensure all relevant staff have appropriate PPE
Students and staff must wear masks or face coverings all the times in the Dormitory unless in their individual rooms.
Display clear notices explaining new procedures
Ensure safe occupancy levels of all facilities and areas, including dining rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, bathrooms, and social areas inside and out.
Explain clearly any measures required when students are allowed to leave site
Ensure equipment is not shared between students, other than when appropriate cleaning has taken place
Allocate appropriate recreation areas (inside and outside) for use by designated boarders and ensure they are aware of any new procedures and safe occupancy levels
Conduct regular temperature checks of students, staff and contractors.
